Frequently asked questions

For families

How do I know which level my child should start in?

Book the free trial; it includes a relaxed placement chat with the instructor. Every class is open to every student — the chat only helps you pick a comfortable starting level; it is never a test.

What technology do we need?

A laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a printer for occasional practice pages. We send the video link before the first session.

What if we miss a class?

Every session is recorded for the enrolled family. Watch the recording and complete the session task; for private lessons we reschedule with 24 hours’ notice. We do not refund individual missed sessions.

Can siblings share a class or a curriculum licence?

Siblings enrol individually in live classes (each child needs a seat). A self-paced curriculum licence covers one family’s children for the school year.

Are classes recorded?

Yes. Recordings are available only to the enrolled family for the retention period stated in our Child Safety & Online Classroom Policy, and parents consent to recording at enrollment.

Do parents need to sit in?

Not required, but welcome — and encouraged for TK–2. You can also review the recording afterwards.

Can we pay privately instead of through a charter school?

Yes. Private-pay families pay per semester (or per session for private lessons) at the same public price a school pays. One free trial class per family.

For charter families and schools

How does paying with charter funds work?

Tell your teacher or Education Specialist you’d like Milata LLC; your school issues a purchase order; your student starts class and we invoice the school directly. Families never pay out of pocket for PO-covered classes.

What happens if we withdraw mid-semester?

Withdrawals are prorated to sessions delivered; the unused portion is refunded to the school per its policy (or to the family for private pay). Trials are never billed.

What if our funds run out mid-semester?

We invoice only up to the purchase order and only for services delivered. Tell us early — we can pause enrollment at the end of a learning period or switch to private pay.

When do you invoice?

After services are delivered, once per learning period or as your school requires, NET-30, with student name, PO number, service dates, and a unique invoice number. Never before the first class, never beyond the PO.

Do your classes count against the weekly cap on vendor core hours?

Russian is usually classified as a core world-language subject. Our classes run 1–4 hours a week, and every progress report lists the hours we delivered so your teacher can track the student’s total.
